What is Meritopia?

Meritopia is an interactive game world within Mathletics where students explore, complete activities, and earn rewards as they progress in their learning.

Students can unlock three lands - Westlake Plains, Grand Central Canyon, and Mount Fondue - along with a multi-level mining game and over 60 Titans to collect and feed.

Designed as a brain break, Meritopia gives students short, five-minute play sessions as they earn points through maths activities. This encourages regular, paced learning and supports consistent study habits, rather than short bursts of activity.

Getting Started

Students unlock Meritopia by earning points through their maths activities. Once enough points are earned, they can access the game under the ‘Games’ tab in the Student Console.

Gloop and Gizmos

Meritopia uses a currency called Gloop, awarded each time students unlock access. Gloop can be spent on Gizmos that allow interaction with the game world, such as:

  • A lightning bolt to remove clouds
  • A canister to activate Crystal Beacons
  • A spray can to open Stasis Pods

A student’s Gloop balance is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen.

Exploring Meritopia

Activating towers restores colour to the surrounding land and reveals Stasis Pods, which contain inhabitants frozen in time. Students can use Gizmos to free them and continue exploring.

Access and Play Time

Students can access Meritopia up to seven times per week, depending on points earned. Each session lasts five minutes.

Points required for access:

  • 200 points – 1st access
  • 500 points – 2nd access
  • 1000 points – 3rd access
  • 1500 points – 4th access
  • 2000 points – 5th access
  • 2500 points – 6th access
  • 3000 points – 7th access

Unused sessions are banked for later use.

Quests and Rewards

Students can also complete Quests within Meritopia to earn Merits, which can be used to purchase items from the avatar store.
